Chitty is a private practice attorney with 30 years’ trial experience. He is member of the Texas Bar Association and past president of the Kaufman County Bar Association. Chitty is a member of the ethics committee at Terrell State Hospital, and the City of Terrell’s Charter Revision Committee. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, former president and director of the Terrell Rotary Club, and president of the Terrell Alliance for Education and the Arts.

He received his bachelor’s and law degrees from Southern Methodist University.
