Personal Information

Sokol is president of the First Candle/Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Alliance. She is founding executive director and a current board member of Any Baby Can, and a past board member and past chair of the International Stillbirth Alliance and the National SIDS Alliance. She is also a past member of the National Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines and the San Antonio Pediatric Society, and a past community advisor for the Assistance League of San Antonio.

Sokol received a bachelor's degree from Penn State University, a master's degree in early childhood education from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Doctorate of Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
