A former teacher and businesswoman, Granger is the first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House. After serving on the zoning commission of Fort Worth, Texas, in 1991 she was elected the city's first female mayor, serving two terms. B.S. Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, Tex., 1965; teacher; business owner; member of the Fort Worth, Tex., zoning commission, 1981-1989; member of the Fort Worth, Tex., city council, 1989-1991; mayor of Fort Worth, Tex., 1991-1995; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fifth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-present).
