Personal Information

McCoy has served as judge of the 48th Judicial District Court since 1995. Prior to that, he was a briefing attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas and a partner with Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller in Fort Worth. He is a member of the Texas and Tarrant County Bar Foundations and serves as chair of the Tarrant County Bar Association Local Rules Committee. He is a member of the North Fort Worth Historical Society and volunteer on the Habitat for Humanity. He received the Chair of the Year Award in 1999 from the Tarrant County Bar Association.

He is an adjunct professor at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering physics and his master’s degree in mathematics from Texas Tech University. He earned his law degree from the University of Houston School of Law.
