John R. Ames is the Dallas County Tax Assessor/Collector. He was first elected in November 2008 and re-elected in 2012 & 2016. Mr. Ames is a Professional County Assessor-Collector (PCAC) and a Certified Tax Administrator (CTA). Additionally, he holds certifications as a Professional County Collector (PCC), a County Tax Office Professional (CTOP), a Registered Texas Assessor/Collector (RTA), and a Certified School Tax Administrator (CSTA). He also has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University.
