Personal Information

Lanny S. Lambert’s first job was as a water meter reader for the City of Abilene, Texas. “I met the City Manager of Abilene, saw what he did, and decided at that age, 16, to become a City Manager.” Lambert went to Abilene Christian University to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and attended Texas Tech University to obtain a Master’s of Public Administration. Lambert’s first City Manager job was as Assistant City Manager/ City Secretary for Littlefield, Texas. “ I was still going to Texas Tech and commuted from Littlefield to Lubbock to finish my degree. After graduation, I was hired by Junction, Texas to be their first City Administrator. With 19 employees, I ran the motorgrader, the garbage truck, and the dump truck when an employee called in sick or quit. I learned more there about true City Management than I could have ever learned in a larger city.!”

After Junction, Lambert has been a City Manager in 9 Texas Cities from Abilene to Brownsville and is presently City Manager of Leon Valley, Texas a suburb of San Antonio. Lambert has managed from 19 employees, (Junction,) to 1100 employees, (Brownsville,) and from a 90 million dollar budget to a $350,000 budget. ( Leon Valley is a full service city and has 10,000 residents and a staff of 106 employees.)

Lambert’s wife, Debra, is a 3rd grade teacher in the Northside Independent School District of San Antonio and their three children range from 20 years of age to 26. (Two boys and a girl.)
