Personal Information

Heather was born in Midland, Texas and attended Midland High School. After graduation she attended Texas Tech University receiving degrees in English and Education. Upon graduation in 1997, Heather moved to Lake Jackson and started her teaching career with BISD. In 1999, Heather married Brian Melass. They have a son and daughter. Heather left teaching in 2011, and began her term on City Council. In May of 2013 she was re-elected to serve a second term and serves as the current Mayor Pro Tem.
