Rajendra C. Parikh, M.D. joined the Texas Medicaid and Chip program on November 1, 2014. Prior to that appointment, he served as a Medical Director of Texas Juvenile Justice Department (formerly Texas Youth Commission) from 2008. In the past, he has served as Medical Director of outpatient services and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, Texas. He previously served as chief of Pediatrics at Forest Park Hospital (formerly known as Deaconess Hospital) for over two decades and as well as the Medical Director of Community Care Plus HMO in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Parikh has more than 30 years’ experience as a clinician both in private practice and academic settings. He has a broad background in health care delivery, as both a provider and an administrator, having served as Chief of Pediatric Services in a teaching hospital and as an Executive/Chief Medical officer in the managed care industry. He has also served as a consultant and as an independent reviewer for several Health Maintenance Organizations.
