Parsons is a former broadcast journalist and reporter for KXAN-TV in Austin, as well as other TV stations in North Carolina, Virginia and Mississippi. His public sector experience includes his most recent post as communications director for the Texas Secretary of State, Parsons also served as press secretary to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and communications director for the Texas Railroad Commission. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
