Appointed by Lt. Gov. Dan PatrickJJ Isbell is a fourth-generation Texan and the founder and president of Texas TransEastern, a privately held petroleum logistics firm based in Pasadena, Texas. He is a board member of the Pujols Family Foundation and the Texas Trucking Association, a former council member of the City of Pasadena, and a past chairman and president of Pasadena Livestock, Show & Rodeo, and the Deer Park Education Foundation.
