Personal Information

Valerie Vargas Cardenas of San Juan is the executive vice president of Mortgage Banking operations for Lone Star National Bank in McAllen. She currently serves as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of San Juan and most recently served as an executive board member of Affordable Homes South Texas, Inc. She has also served in leadership roles as a fund distribution committee member of United Way of South Texas and as president of the Pharr Chamber of Commerce, American Diabetes Association-RGV, and the Palmer Drug Abuse Program. Additionally, she is an alumnus of Leadership Texas, McAllen and Pharr. Cardenas received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from St. Edward’s University.
