Lisa K. Jarrett of San Antonio was appointed to the 436th District Court in September of 2009. She presides over a general jurisdiction court with a preference for juvenile matters. Judge Jarrett is board certified in juvenile law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has nearly two decades of legal experience as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney in adult and juvenile matters. In addition to her regular duties, Judge Jarrett has started a Family Enrichment Docket, focused on alternatives for juvenile offenders with a history of family violence, and a Crossover Docket, which provides for juveniles who find themselves in both the juvenile justice system and the Department of Family and Protective Services. In 2017, Governor Abbott appointed Judge Jarrett to serve on the TJJD board. She also serves as the Chair of the Bexar County Juvenile Board and is a frequent lecturer on juvenile law topics. Judge Jarrett is a member of Friends of Communities in Schools, co-chair of the Community Justice Project and a fellow of both the San Antonio Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation.
