Personal Information

Sheriff Byron A. Lyons started his career in law enforcement in 1986 working in the Polk County jail. In 1989 he enrolled in the Deep East Texas Police Academy in Kilgore Texas. In August of 1989 he was placed on patrol after successfully completing Kilgore Police Academy. In May of 1990 he was hired by the Livingston Police Department as a patrolman. In September 2001 he was hired as a Felony Investigator by the Polk County District Attorney's Office. In 2005 he was asked by Sheriff Kenneth Hammack to be his Chief Deputy. In 2020 he ran for Sheriff and won the election and on January 1st 2021 he was sworn in as the new Sheriff of Polk County.
